Wordpress Theme (Black and Tan)

3D Ohio is releasing a WordPress theme named Black and Tan. For anyone else thinking of making a WP theme, do so from scratch. If you think that you could save time by modifying an existing theme DON’T. This theme took at least a week longer and it required a lot of redoing code anyway (support for widgets, nasty CSS, etc). All future themes released here will be done by scratch. Here’s the feature list:

  1. READABLE layout – the thought process in the design of this theme was “reading posts”. There are a lot of very attractive themes with incredible amounts of Photoshopping and brilliant CSS, but it’s hard to read the posts. It’s a blog… for reading.
  2. There is support for WP-PostRatings by Lester ‘GaMerZ’ Chan. If you have this plug in installed, you’ll get 3 new widgets to utilize (Highest Ranked Post, Most Ranked Post, and Highest Ranked Post Category). Please support his WP Extention.
  3. 4 count them, 4 Widget ready bars! Don’t like the layout, feel free to change it!Admin Widget Screen
  4. A trendy Web 2.0 colour pallete – trendy could be stretching it, the blog post on Modern Life was a year ago, it is kind of like saying “state of the art AJAX”.
  5. Trendy Web 2.0 hatches and rounded corners.
  6. Graphic representation of comments. If you have none, one, or more comments to your blog post, you’ll have the following images:The Comment Guys
  7. VISTA inspired calendar, just a cleaned up version of the WP Calendar.Calendar
  8. PSD file to change your logo on top – if you want to keep the stripes and over lapping logo to body.

Last but not least, you can download it here: LINK

If you plan on trying this theme out, I’d really appreciate it if you click on one of the Google ads to the right. It doesn’t cost you anything…

The psd files… What about those that want to change the logo but don’t bother to buy photoshop?

Dan Andrews Says:

Moshu,

You can delete or change the bt-logo.png to a transparent logo of your choice, the only difference is that you won’t get the over lapping shadow. I’ve also added a blank .PNG file that you can download to add your logo with the editor of your choice. Here: Blank Logo File

You’re right, I should have put this in the original distribution. I’ve added it to the internal download zip file. Thanks for pointing this out!

Hello,
Just wanted to say thank you.
And that I clicked on ALL of the google ads.
I actually found this page through this wordpress forums post. So thank you for the ’shameless plug’ :) well placed, I thought.
Very cool calendar cleanup.
